Installers – What to expect for the Tiling Challenge

Skills Required

You will be asked to demonstrate your skills on a basic residential shower application. The tiled pod will be 3’ x 3’ x 3’ and will test your fundamental tiling skills. The pod will have 2 walls, 2 curbs and 1 niche. No layout will be given. You will be using 12” x 24” rectified porcelain tiles. All exposed edges must be capped. It is expected that all TTMAC details will be followed, and you will be evaluated in accordance with those details.

Required

  • Tools of the trade including safety gear
  • Show up on time and fit for duty.
  • COVID screening/checklist
  • Photo ID for Registration
  • Proof of Registration/Payment
  • No wet saws allowed.
  • No clips allowed.

  • Buckets
  • Sponges
  • Wet Station
  • 12 x 24 rectified porcelain tiles
  • Edge caps
  • Thin set
  • Lunch and Coffee/Pastry at Registration.
  • Disposal for Clean Up

Shape of the day

7:30 AM – 8:00 AM Sign in and set up your Pod Space
8:00 AM – 11:00 PM Tiling your Pod (first 3-hour block)
11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Lunch – mandatory break
11:30 AM – 2:30 PM Tiling your Pod (second 3-hour block)
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM Clean-up your Pod space
3:00 –   Evaluators complete matrix – you will be notified by mail with your final result.
